3T Power & O’Neills: Energising Sustainable Sportswear Production
31 July 2026
As one of Ireland’s best-known sportswear brands, Northern Ireland-based manufacturer O’Neills continues to invest in more sustainable manufacturing at it’s Tyrone-based production facilities as demand grows for environmental responsibility within supply chains.
Through a partnership with 3T Power to supply its key operations with 100% locally generated renewable energy, O’Neills is helping reduce operational carbon emissions while supporting the growth of Northern Ireland’s renewable energy economy.
With an increasing expectation around sustainability and ethical production from customers, sporting organisations, and supply chain partners, manufacturers are under increasing pressure to demonstrate meaningful environmental action. Through their PPA with 3T Power O’Neills is supporting the transition toward locally generated renewable energy while reinforcing its commitment to sustainable operation practices. Now in Year 3 of their supplier relationship, O’Neills have successfully offset over 2754 tonnes of carbon, that’s equivalent to a forest of 41,728 trees working for the entire 3-year term. (an average tree absorbs 22kg CO2 per year).
As an Irish brand we pride ourselves on supporting local at O’Neills. Our choice to manufacture in Ireland supports local jobs at every level of the journey from a raw yarn to the high quality, reliable jerseys and shorts worn by thousands of teams across Ireland and around the globe. But our commitment to supporting local goes beyond just our knitters and dyers, designers and sales team, athletes and fans. We recognise our obligation extends to supporting the local environment our committed team and valued customers live and thrive in. It this steadfast commitment that drove our decision to partner with 3T Power. Their guarantee of 100% locally generated renewable energy ensures that we can reduce our carbon footprint in a meaningful way. We are proud to continue to support local both on an off the pitch with 3T Power.
Commenting on the partnership, John Franics Collins, Sales Manager at 3T Power, said: “Manufacturing businesses across Northern Ireland are increasingly looking for practical and commercially sustainable ways to reduce emissions. We are delighted to support O’Neills Sportswear as the company continues to invest in more sustainable practices and operations whilst reducing their reliance on imported fossil fuels by making the switch to locally generated renewable electricity.”
The partnership highlights how established manufacturers can play an active role in supporting Northern Ireland’s renewable energy transition, whilst still aligning their own operational strategy. At O’Neills, the renewable energy supplied by 3T Power supports the knitters, the cutters, and the sewers in producing for thousands of teams across every level from grassroots to professional in Ireland and worldwide.
As the demand for greater transparency and environmental accountability continues to grow across the manufacturing sector, partnerships such as this demonstrate how we can support businesses in progressing towards lower-carbon operations, with zero compromise.
